I’ve been a fairly regular visitor to Cherokee’s poker room for the last few years and, for the most part, it has been a very positive experience. But they recently changed the format of all their daily tournaments to what is a very aggressive blind structure, trying to keep the duration of tournaments to as short a time as possible.
It has pretty much turned them into nothing more than crapshoots, and has really reduced the enjoyment and the incentive to play in these tournaments.
On the other side of the coin, they have added high hand and bad beat jackpots, which has made the cash games a lot more interesting, although the house rake of $8 max/hand is a little out of line, considering the lack of comped drinks. I guess being the only poker room within a 350 mile radius lets the house set the rules any way they want. It could be worse. It could be better.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is the first major poker tournament ever held in North Carolina and it is setting records. The event has been so. Poker Tournaments Whether you are new to poker or a veteran player, we have a tournament for you. The daily Poker Tournament schedule is subject to change, check with your dealer or any of the staff in the Poker Room for information.
- The 2017-2018 WSOP Circuit begins August 2 at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina, and it will end at Harrah’s New Orleans with a stop beginning May 10, 2018. In between there are 24 other stops on the schedule for 26 total Circuit stops this season.
- Hours of Operation: 11am - 5am daily located on the south end of the casino floor, the new, non-smoking addition features 25 tables. The WSOP Poker Room now offers 8-handed cash games! To ensure our players have a safe and enjoyable experience, we have installed shields between each player position. View more information on our existing Health.
- 2019 Cherokee Poker Classic $365 No-Limit Hold'em $100K GTD Poker tournament event info, including schedule, blind structure, and payout structure.

I came out ok. Not my best night to be honest.
He didn’t ask for tips, but contrary to a popular stereotype about black folk, he did tip the dealer well

This is only a stereotype because it's true.
I used to slang booze myself, so I can speak to this. It's frustratingly, excruciatingly true.

Matt Geiger bought his house from him in Philly. Said he got there and there’s cash laying all over the place, closets, on the rugs, in the couch. He bags it up and brings it to practice to give to AI and he’s like nah, you keep it.
