Jones Vs Adesanya Odds

3/28/2022

Jon Jones vs Israel Adesanya. Bovada.LV opened Israel Adesanya as a (+285) favorite! Those betting odds for Izzy denote a 26% chance of victory.

  • Jones vs Adesanya Opening Odds. Fighter Odds Jon Jones-550: Israel Adesanya +375: Odds taken on Nov 15th. Jones understandably opens as a big favorite but Adesanya has made such rapid improvements on a fight to fight basis, I feel the odds will shift in his favor if/when the matchup is made. Though there are multiple ingredients at play to make.
  • Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones Betting Odds. In UFC’s pound for pound rankings, Jon Jones has a chokehold on the top spot while Israel Adesanya comes in ranked at #8. Although they’re both in the Top 10 of the P4P rankings, and world champions, Bovada has their odds significantly far apart: Israel Adesanya (+375) Jon Jones (-550).
  • As you can see, and to the surprise of some, Jon Jones is a massive betting favorite. He offers no betting value at all. With that said, Adesanya at +375 odds is worthy of a flier due to being a P4P ranked fighter, a world champ, and undefeated in the UFC. Israel Adesanya a Rare Underdog.

UFC 259 is around the corner, with a card on Saturday night that includes a bunch of notable fights and fighters: Dominick Cruz is back, Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson face off, and of course there’s the main event. That, of course, is th light heavyweight title bout between Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya.

Yup. those are a lot of reasons to to tune in.

If you’re looking to bet on the fights mentioned and the rest of the card, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a list of the odds for UFC 259 (all bets courtesy of BetMGM):

Boy have these two been going AT each other hard lately!

Twitter has been blowing up!

I will spare you transcripts but give you the ol’ CliffsNotes.

After Israel Adesanya’s incredibly dominant victory over the previously undefeated Brazilian Paulo Costa, Jon Jones knew a fight between the two men could net him over 10 million dollars.

The undisputed king!@Stylebender is untouchable at middleweight 🏆

Israel Adesanya looks unbeatable and Jon Jones, who is also undefeated, has shown some chinks in his armor as of late.

Both Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes took Jones to the scorecards and arguably could have won if they were the champs.

The fights were very close but in both, Jones took control late in the fight.

Neither Thiago Santos or Dominick Reyes had any 5-round experience in their UFC careers before they challenged Bones for Light Heavyweight Title.

If there is a main event and one fighter like say, Frankie Edgar or Dustin Poirier, who have good cardio and experience fighting in the championship rounds and the other guy doesn’t…

You know where I’m going with this.

Dustin Poirier lost the first two rounds to Dan Hooker earlier this year but he won on the judges’ scorecards as the tide began to turn midway through the third.

Frankie Edgar needed the 5th round against Pedro Munhoz not too long ago and he got it because of his experience competing in so many title fights.

We hit that bet as Frankie was close to being a 2.5 to 1 favorite at one point during fight week.

We were on the other underdog, Dan Hooker, though, unfortunately.

He took the first two rounds, though, so it is what it is.

Dan even secured 4 takedowns in that fight and defended all but one of Dustin’s but it was an all-important one that helped him seal the victory late in the fight.

Smart play but kinda silly as well considering the 5-round fighter, Poirier, was probably going to wear him down.

Jon Jones will not have this advantage on Israel Adesanya, though.

Jones Vs Adesanya Odds Prediction

  • The Last Stylebender, who is 20-0, has actually fought for the full 25 minutes on 3 different occasions in his 9-fight UFC career.
  • He went the distance with Brad Tavares in a 5-rounder, Yoel Romero, and his most exciting fight to date against Kelvin Gastelum which was for the Interim belt.

I believe that Izzy has the conditioning to hang with Jon Jones…in the striking department.

Can the natural striker with a lot of fast twitch muscle fibers wrestle with the bigger man who has been grappling his whole life for 10, 15, 20+ minutes?

That is the 10 million dollar question right there.

I mentioned that the trash talk was getting a little bit out of hand.

It began with Jon insinuating that he would like to fight Israel Adesanya in a super fight before he makes the move to heavyweight.

He said that if Adesanya had trouble with a short stubby wrestler like Gastelum then he was going to have a real problem with a wrestler as big as himself.

Adesanya responded in an interview saying that Jones reminded him of what he’s hated most of his life, bullies.

He says Jones is a jock and a bully.

There are so many freaking tweets from each guy. You can go to their twitter accounts and read all of them if you like but it’s not that enjoyable because you see two of the world’s best martial artists acting so hateful.

Sure does sell a fight, though.

Jones questioned if Adesanya’s father thought he was ready to take on Bones and mentioned that his coach Eugene, who said they wouldn’t fight Jones for reasons of Jon’s lack of honor and discipline in life, definitely wasn’t.

I’m curious to hear what his father tells him when he asks about fighting me. I wonder if his father believes he’s ready? Eugene definitely doesn’t

I understand that this is martial arts but it’s also a cage fight.

They’re going to try to physically kill each other inside of a locked cage so what’s wrong with a couple slightly harmful words between men?

Well, I wouldn’t call these words “slightly” anything.

Israel Adesanya responded by saying that his pops already knows how he would win and that Jones’ late mother would not be proud of the man her son has become.

My pops already told me how I’d beat you. Trust me he knows.
Your mom would be disappointed in who you’ve become. https://t.co/CGGykYXSNn

Shots fired.

I repeat.

Jon took the high road in his response when he said: “Sitting on tens of millions with my kids on fire about Christ and I’m one of the greatest martial artists in history. Yea, she would be disappointed. Why you mad bro?”

I don’t know if or why he is mad but I do know this.

He spends all of his time tweeting.

I don’t know how he has time for:

  • Media
  • Training
  • Friends
  • Or even going to the bathroom.

I scrolled and scrolled for about a minute on his timeline and only made it to October 2nd.

Jones Vs Adesanya Odds Predictions

To me, that’s a shame. Sitting on top of the world and he’s on his phone tweeting more than the President…

It appears that all 3 sides want to make this fight.

Dana has said that is absolutely the fight to make.

What about the betting line?

Jon Jones vs Israel Adesanya

Get this!

Bovada.LV opened Israel Adesanya as a (+285) favorite!

Absolute insanity! That’s all that is.

It has moved down since to (+225) and I expect this one to get much closer to even odds as time goes on.

(+285)?!

Bloody bonkers! I can’t wrap my head around that.

Jones Vs Adesanya Odds Today

Those betting odds for Izzy denote a 26% chance of victory.

(+225) is only 31%.

You want to hear what BetOnline.AG thinks of this one?

Jon Jones opened at (-150) and Izzy at (+120).

They are at a pick’em now at BetOnline.

(-115) each.

That makes a little more sense to me. I think I would open Jones as the favorite. He has the better wrestling, more experience, and is the bigger fighter.

At the same time, this will be the best Adesanya we have ever seen most likely because he is cutting minimal weight.

When I finish writing this, I am going directly over to Bovada.LV and putting a couple hundo on The Last Stylebender at (+225).

If this fight does happen, I think the betting line will close around (-160) for Jones.

It’s just a guess but the (+225) is not going to be around for long. I do know that.

Jon Bones Jones Twitter

In Conclusion

I don’t know if this one is gonna happen but after all that talk, it almost has to.

Talking about a guy’s dead mother is dangerous.

Even Jon’s brother, Arizona Cardinal All-Pro Chandler Jones, chimed in with an ominous tweet to Adesanya advising him to “Tread carefully”.

If Jones is abandoning his move to heavyweight then it must be for good reason.

The one hiccup might be no title on the line.

I don’t think there is any way on Earth that Jon Jones makes it down to 185 and I’m almost positive that they aren’t even considering that.

I did see a tweet where Jon said: Hey, y’all wouldn’t mind if I went back to get my belt real quick?

Would you guys be annoyed if I went back and grabbed my belt real quick?

Jones Vs Adesanya Odds

Israel has some leverage here where he can say that if he does go up in weight, he wants it to be for the belt, not just Jon Jones.

I personally think a win over Jon Jones is just as good as any belt because he is undefeated and never lost it.

Do you want to be remembered as the guy who beat Jan Blachowicz for the world title or do you want to say you were the first and possibly only man to ever defeat Jon Jones?

It’s not even close, in my opinion.

I can’t think of a bigger one.

Both men are more or less the champions of their respective divisions and each undefeated.

Add in the opposing styles and the increasingly icky Twitter war, which Adesanya’s coach has said he wants no part of, and we have ourselves a super fight, ladies and gentlemen!
